22 monaghan st 1

Milford Buildings Preservation Trust is launching a major project of Collections Development after being awarded Accreditation by Arts Council England. The key part of this project is to purchase 22 Monaghan Street Milford as permanent home for the collections. Located only two minutes from Milford House estate, its location is ideal and is surrounded by four listed buildings including the B1 listed R.G Mc Crum Institute and Milford Schoolhouse. The property was built by the Mc Crum family in c.1888 and was for many years home to the Headmasters of Milford National School including Mr. Todd and Mr. Kernahan. Later it was home to the Watson family who owned Drumsill House Hotel and Sam Watson who owned the Corner Shop. The property is packed with original features including staircase, ceiling cornicing, doors and even the servants bedroom in the attic. This is the only property is Milford large enough to accommodate the collections and growing number of visitors. The project will:

  • Secure future of Milford House Collections
  • Allow return of more original items from Milford House
  • Allow the entire collection to be on public display
  • Provide important visitor services including tea rooms, toilets and shop
  • Provide educational programme and events
  • Community meeting space
  • Allow Trust to attract and provide for growing number of visitors to Milford from all over the world
  • Regenerate the area through its heritage and tourism industry

The Trust needs to raise £140,000 to purchase the property and has already secured funding towards this. If you would like to support this project please go to and make a donation. Thank to you for your support and please tell all your friends about it.
