Robert Garmany McCrum is said to have thought more of his gardens than he did of his house. The gardens were laid out by William Frazer Haldane (who also designed gardens for Dublin Castle. In middle of Pleasure Gardens was a magnificent Italian Fountain with water sprouting out from fish.

It had ceased to work in time of Manor House School. However in its Jubilee Year 1961, the gardener stuck a hose inside and water sprouted out from top. They concluded they could not get it to function.

It remained there in time of Manor House Special Care and children often sat round it with nurses. In 1996 Milford House was sold and during the night the fountain was stolen. It was reported to police but no trace has ever been found. The concrete base remains. It remained a listed monument at risk until it is found.

Milford Buildings Preservation Trust are on the hunt to find it and we want it back!
